It's a new year! Thank goodness- I needed a new year. Having a baby last year made my body do a 180 (in the wrong direction). So I'm sailing the 'lose weight' boat this year. I don't do fad diets or crazy programs. Losing weight is a mathematical equation= what goes in must be less than what you burn. Simple on paper, but hard to live.
Today's post is a fun poem I came across many years ago. I couldn't find the author- bummer. It sums up how I feel right now :)
'Twas the month after Christmas,
And all through the house,
Nothing would fit me-
Not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled,
The eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parites
had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales,
There arose such a number!
When I walked to the store-
less a walk than a lumber
I'd remember the marvelous meals prepared,
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The punch and the cookies, the bread and the cheese,
and the way I'd never said, "No, thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt,
and prepared once again to do battle with dirt,
I said to myself, as only I can,
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruitcake, every cracker and chip.
Every last bit of food that I lke must be banished,
till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie- not even a lick,
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits or cornbread or pie,
I'll mucn on a carriot and quitly cry.
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot-
Happy New year to all, and to all a good diet!
